If you have not yet read this book, I highly suggest this be the book you read if you are looking for advice on teaching. It's main focus is on partnering student method where the teaching is from the teacher and the students. It makes teachers realize that we do have to include our students when we are planning out our lesson plans. Thinking of what will interest our students to keep them focused on learning is key to this new generation. Not only does it explain fully partnering, it also gives tools that we can use as teachers, what we should do, helpful hints into partnering, and much more. I highly recommend this book, not only to technology teachers, but to any teacher.
Constructivism teaching is letting your students be involved in their learning process. It's letting them tell you where they are knowledge wise, how they learn, and letting them figure out what is best for them. I can go on and on about this teaching style; however, this short video can sum it in in a little time. Take the time to watch it, and see if this style is for you. Please let me know either way if this is for you or you're against this style.
Flipping the classroom is considered new; however, it has been around for 15 years. So why are people so afraid to use this method? Some are afraid of the technology to be able to use this method. That's what's so great about flipping the classroom! You decide how you flip it, what you use, and what is best for your students. I have seen flipping the classroom in practice, and when executed correctly, it works wonders with the students, saves class time to focus on helping students, and students aren't bored during class time. Below is a little video explaining flipping the classroom at a deeper level. After reading this and watching the video, please feel free to take the poll and leave comments on what works with your flipped classroom or why you will never flip your classroom.
As the world changes around us, we have to make sure our students are able to adapt to the changes. Technology is constantly changing, and it has become a major challenge for some in the work place. The infographic below explains a lot on these skills. If we don't teach our students these skills, it can make them fall behind, not only academically but also in their future workplace.
